Sisig nation

A food staple when eating out: Sisig.

Whether its fish, chicken, pork and beef, all is good.

Every Filipino restaurant, carinderia and canteen they serve it. May it be sizzling or not. It may not be friendly to our waistline, coronary arteries, colon and liver but this delicacy is a staple Filipino dish. It may have been modified over the years (would you like some hotdog sisig?) but its taste has already made a mark.

Origins of this delicacy originated in Pampanga and were made famous by the sisig queen. That makes me want to attend the Sisig Festival.

Sisig Houses:

1. Almer’s (Alfredo St., Sampaloc, Manila) At the Dapitan Area of UST

Gravy pa lang ulam na. They serve it sizzling and smoking hot (natilamsikan nga yung mata ko e). You have to mix the raw egg by yourself. Delicious! Kulang ang one cup of rice.

According to long time customers what changed is the serving and price. Dati it’s good for two pero ngayon mabibitin ka sa serving. As for the imminent price change we could understand (pork, ingredients et.al. are not getting cheap now adays). I already forgot how much a serving costs during my college days but its definitely affordable as compared to restaurants.

For me it has the best sisig from around the UST food circuit.

2. Guilly’s Island

Crunchy Pork Sisig!

The Tuna sisig is just OK.

3. Dencio’s

4. Max’s (chicken sisig)

It’s a bit dry and spicy (We don’t like spicy sisig, as much as possible we ask to omit the sili)

5. Dinakdakan (Gomez building, Pedro Gil Street, Malate, Manila) in front of UP-CM
Your everyday sisig buddy. It costs 40 php with 1 serving of rice.

6. KKK

The sisig could induce cardiac arrest. Alam nyo ba yung feeling ng naha-high. You could actually squeeze cooking oil out of it. Same goes with the Tuna sisig. My advise to those who has high blood and high cholesterol do not let your physician increase your medication doses. Eat the other food from their menu.

7. Kalye Juan

Spice it up please

8. Congo Grille

Tuna sisig = tuna sandwich spread

9. Gerry’s Grill

10. Bamboo House ( Angeles, Pampanga) I think its near Klownz.

How about you where do you think are the best sisig house?
