When Seffy and I got a package set for Puerto Galera most of our companions are foreigners. Our first day was cancelled due to a typhoon. We stayed at the travel agency's office looking up for some options. I could overhear Marla (German backpacker, very friendly BTW ) suggesting destinations to another German couple. She sounds very familiar with Batangas making me think "whatta?!" Daig pa ako ng German, alam nila ang must go spots here.

Handwashing

As a health worker, hand washing is important. Handling one patient with different case as the other increases our risk to contact the disease. Am thinking of how much normal flora are still remaining in my hands due to frequent hand washing. I always bring my own anti-bacterial liquid hand soap cozz hospital supplies don’t last long. I remember one time that I have to donate soap so everyone could hand wash.

I’ve been pretty fascinated lately with Anti-bacterial liquid soaps (with moisturizer of course!). If the price is reasonable I buy it.

1. Jergens Antibacterial Liquid Soap – It has moisturizers that keep your hands soft and smooth. It cost 75 php ( I think) for 200 something mL. A pea size of liquid could give you a rich lather it last for a long time.

2. Personal collection’s Foaming Liquid Hand Soap and the non-foaming – cost effective and non-drying.

3. Robinson’s Supermarket Liquid Handsoap

4. Bath and Body Works’ anti-Bacterial Deep Cleansing Handsoap – With Vitamin B5 and E

As for Bar soaps: Nothing beats Safeguard. Kills 99.9 % of germs ;)

Pandemic

I want to congratulate my sister KC on deciding to take up Medicine. It’s her own career leverage that could steer her away from the generic world of nursing. Even if we want her to study in my Alma Mater, we just can’t take the nepotism and favoritism, I could say the San Beda is a good choice.

With the outbreak of A(H1N1) her first month of classes has been interrupted. I can smell a no-sem break year, lots of make-up classes and a lifetime supply of coffee. Could this mean that UAAP/NCAA opening would be delayed? Confirmed infected students came from players and pep squads from Beda, UP and Ateneo. Tsk tsk.

The best way not to get infected is to wash and sanitize hands at all times. And if possible wear face mask. Enough said. I’ll be having my flu shot soon. I don’t trust my immune system anymore.
