Camwhoring = Photography?!

I read that statement somewhere, it made me cringe.

ronnel's shadow pic

In my opinion, of course NOT!!!! Especially if the idea of it is having your face a few inches from the camera, sticking out your tongue, distorting your face and making yourself look cute. It's migraine-inducing just to see its collective redundancy. I have this youtube video that guides us to better selfportraits.

Also I want to impart that:
1. Rule of thirds still RULES!!!!
2. High angle - makes your eyes big
3. Low angle -  makes your eyes small
4. Play with the ISO settings. It could do wonders.
5. Love the MACRO.
6. Try to experiment with different angles and lighting.
7. Use the magic hours wisely. (sunset and sunrise just like the photo above)
8. subscribe to photojojo.com to get lots of photog tips

Not only are these a interesting must-try for your headshot in facebook but also to make your photoalbums look interesting. Oh by the way am using a P&S cam.

Ciao

optical illusions: cool!

One of the best way to "exercise" your mind is to look at optical illusions. It could be mind boggling I tell you  but, your neurons would thank you for this.

Beanies galore!!!

I 've been wanting to reproduce (in mercerized cotton) this Sonia Rykiel Beanie. It's very nice, isn't it. It's a breather from the usual beanie/skull caps. As I was looking for free patterns I stumbled upon some interesting patterns.

1. Beanies with lots of little and huge flowers :)

2. The slouchy beanie

3. I know this isn't a beanie but its too cute for words. I'm going to make one.

4. Frankenstein Beanie, perfect for Halloween.

5. I love the Mannequins used in the pictures.

The Typhoon Ondoy Effect

A few weeks ago our country has experienced the worst and heartbreaking tragedy that Mother Nature has to offer (I could now hear her saying "payback's a bitch").  We've seen the unexpected, horrifying and devastating. But above all  cooperation, volunteerism, 'bayanihan' and generosity has evoked the hearts of many. Slowly but surely we will all get through this. After all, we're Filipinos were used to crisis situation and handle everything with a smile.

I want to give a shoutout to the:

  1. Fearless and selfless fighters. Spot.ph named 10 of them.  I know there are lots of them especially the search and rescue team. Kudos to you.
  2. Twitter Volunteers who tweets infos on how you can help the Ondoy Victims. I want also to want to commend @jungx and @jusap for keeping me and all of us informed.
  3. Donors who continuosly give cash and relief goods (just look at the grocery stores).
  4. The volunteers who gave time with their chosen org to reach out.
  5. Soldiers and policemen.
  6. Foreign celebs who also sent in their donations (e.g marie digby, jabbawockeez, air supply, arnel pineda, apl.d.ap and a lot more) Thanks.

I don't want to dwell on the negative side of this. All I have to say to the etchuserang politicos na mga frog. This is not the time to blame whoever caused some negligence. May we just focus in the rehabilitation please. Blaming can't feed a thousand people. In case you didn't noticed there's still an ongoing supertyphoon at Northern Luzon. Sheesh!

Take U to the Philippines by Apl.de.ap

"The Black Eyed Peas’ Apl.de.ap has collaborated with the Department of Tourism to create a video promoting the country entitled
Take U to the Philippines. While the video mostly shows the singer with an animated background featuring a tricycle, a jeepney, and various tourist sights, it highlights the Philippines’ warm and tropical nature and also mentions specific places like Tagaytay, Pampanga, and Palawan." - text from spot.ph
And I heard the Apl did this for FREE!!!

What I don't get from it is the Dancing Lady...Other than that way to represent!!!! :)
