...has passed since I left home...

Leaving my comfort zone has been one of the greatest challenge of my life...
Starting something new in another country is another story...Venturing to a new horizon is a must. The world is our playground and it is created for exploration.
I can do this...I promise you. Just wait.
XOXO

I remember one relative (of a patient) who once worked in SG, told me that it's a FINE city.
And it's very fine indeed.
Frankly speaking this rule serves a purpose because I can see that many are still pasaway. But on a brighter side, I appreciate everything efficient on this country.
It's a friendly city after all. Here's what I noticed during my 2 months stay
- Jogger friendly - Sidewalks and path-walks are suited for joggers and runners. What I like the best are the park connectors.
- Cycler friendly - Sidewalks are built to serve bicycles.
- Shopping friendly - From the designer brands, exclusive brands, factory outlets and up-and-coming fashion. They got it.
- Shopper friendly - Good customer service (most of the time).
- Green City - Trees everywhere!
- Safety First - Safety is their first concern at all times. I feel safe walking at night. But, do not test the law. Low crime rate doesn't mean NO crime.
- Tourist Friendly - Signage are all in English so you won't get lost. Or you can find your way back easily. And there are maps everywhere.
- Photography Friendly - There's a different feel of colors. It's vibrant and alive in some ways that makes you want to take photos every-time.
- Photographer Friendly - You don't worry having your camera being snatched.
- Commuter Friendly - The train and bus system are very efficient. The bus system is confusing at first. But you'll get a hang of it (if you'll stay for quite some time). One thing I want to change with the bus system are the 'hell drivers' (those who makes sharp turns, brakes suddenly, hits the gas pedal abruptly) very scary.
I still have 23 more months to find out more about this multi-cultural city. Have to add more for this FRIENDLY list.

I remember seeing this dog in the neighborhood. He has fear of being touched. Maybe its because its the start of hitting. The next thing we know he's chained in a dog cage, that's meant to be death bed. We even thought of adopting him so that he could have a home.
Upon seeing this dog abuse. I'm enraged! I couldn't even dare to watch the video. I hope SG authorities could do something about this. I'm not familiar with SG animal laws.
I got it from here...

I'm officially an OFW/expat. Tagged as the "Bagong Bayani."
We are powerful (look at what happened to Malu Fernandez).
We remit our hard-earned money to stimulate the economy.
To tell you frankly its a bittersweet glory. There's always a price to pay. We have our mortal enemies in the likes of homesickness and loneliness. Add up to it are the abuses and discrimination that some of us are experiencing.
I have to be strong, like any other OFW who lasted this long ( Idol ko si Dad OFW din siya). Everyone has their own reasons of being here. As for me, I have dreams that's soon to be my future. If I want to be THERE, I'm stepping up to the game.
Don't worry I won't step on anyone along the way.
XOXO

I'm really in shock when I read the story and saw the actual picture. The dog looks terrified. He's thrown into the sea as if he's a toy. Last year there's a news report that dogs are being stolen. They showed a L300 van full of dogs wearing 'silencers.' They were saved just in time.
I feel really sad seeing this kind of abuse and maltreatment to animals. They have feelings too. Maybe that's why God created them voice-less they would've been smarter than us.
According to WSPA (World Soviet for the Protection of Animals), one reason animals are so vulnerable to cruelty is because there is no universal agreement between nations that animals can suffer and feel pain.
There is an urgent need for an international commitment to protect animals and their welfare. Such a commitment would inspire political leaders, organisations and individuals to treat animals better and will be the beginning of the end of animal cruelty across the world. It is our responsibility to ensure that animals are given the protection they deserve and that the indisputable link between animal welfare, the protection of people and the planet is recognised.
Got the story and picture from here.

P.S.On a lighter note. I want to congratulate Evill Kitty for the 3 newborn kittens. XOXO

It's been a month since I left. I went away physically, mentally and emotionally unready. Everything happened so fast. I was still enjoying a stress-free environment and it hadn't sinked in. I felt that I was in for a long vacation leave. I still remember my few spent days at home got me talk mindlessly to my mom of not wanting to go. But if I don't go I may not have another chance.
Then came the agony of packing. I'm not organized in the suitcase department. Especially when there are things to bring that turns out to be available for a cheap price in SG. I ended up looking like a DV vendor, someone who's ready to lay-out her goods on the floor. Now I know what to pack and this won't happen again. Lol :P

As I arrived in this country, I wasn't able to blend well with my house mates. A morphed version of me showed up thus the misinterpretations. There was even a public incident surprisingly became the key of openness and start of something new. I'm gradually adapting and learning on my new habitat. At the same time enjoying the MAMAS company as well.
As of now, I'm still in transition and adjustment. I'm starting to like quite a few things about this country. I still have 23 months to get to know and appreciate the culture. I know I went away unready. But whatever SG has in store I'll take it as a challenge. Perhaps, its time to learn and experience something first world.
XOXO
